Kaiya's last day of 1st grade was Friday. They performed a show about Australian animals they see while on a bushwalk (hence, no uniform wearing that day). Kaiya gave a riveting tribute to the wombat. Afterwards the families were invited back to the classroom for afternoon tea.
Taking a bow after their "performance"...

With only 6 kids in her class I crocheted beanies for each kid (navy, to match their uniforms)...such a great group of kids! We won't get to see them much over the next 6 week holiday- most of them are flying home...her classmates are from all over the world- Algeria, Germany, Holland, Scotland, & Italy!

School is pretty much year-round here. After 6 weeks she'll be starting 2nd grade! Although we're not headed back to the states for our annual home leave b/c we just moved here...since we have to leave the country (to use our home leave benefit) we're headed to Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong in July!

Too bad I won't be in H.K. to show you where I grew up as a kid. Kim, you will have a field day shopping at little shops. Starting practicing your haggling skills now. Never pay asking price. Always be willing to walk away. The merchant will always lower their prices.
