School

I thought you'd all be interested to hear about the schools the girls are attending...

We've enrolled Kaiya at the international school here (since Brian's company will pay for private schooling). It's a small school with about 150 kids ranging from Grades 1-12. She is 1 of 8 kids in her class! She is the only American- her other classmates are from the UK, Italy, Germany, and Spain- although her teacher is from America. Sorry, she's not likely to come back w/an accent. She loves school and has made friends quickly. I love how they offer piano lessons through the school...it's one less place I have to chauffeur her to. Here she is in her uniform:

Preschool is called kindergarten or kindy here. Since kindy isn't mandatory, Brian's company won't pay for private school. It's ok though b/c kindy is run through the public schools so it's free! The public schools in our area have a great reputation so we felt good about enrolling Emi. She attends kindy twice a week from 9-2:45 pm and is the only American amongst a class full of Aussies. She's had to adjust to the longer days and having more kids in her class (about 20) but she's doing well. She does come home from school every time saying she got in trouble for being too noisy or talking too much...but what can you expect? That's our Emiko. Here she is in her "uniform" (kindy only requires a t-shirt)...she didn't want me to take her picture so she's hiding.

As for Mina, she stays home w/me. A lot of mom's put their kids in Mother's Day Out type programs by this age but I'm content to have her at home.
